Error - The remote computer is not responding

Please try linking again. If the problem persists then please follow the resolution below.

Problem: When attempting to connect, the AT&T dialer remains on Setting up the network link... for a while before an AT&T Global Network message box appears with an information message stating that 'The remote computer is not responding'.

Reason: If you have the wrong modem driver selected or your modem was turned off when you switched on your computer, the dialer may try to use an alternative method of connection such as 'Direct Parallel' or an incorrect modem driver.

Solution: Please follow these instructions to try to resolve the problem:

1) Turn the modem on.

2) If the modem is not immediately detected(check your Phone and Modem Options in Control Panel to see if it is listed), you will need to do the following:

- Turn the modem off and shut down the PC
- Turn the modem on first and then restart the PC

3) Click the 'Setup' button on the AT&T Global Network - Login window

4) Select Review or change just modem and phone number settings and click Next

5) Select the modem, click Next

6) Click Finish

7) Click Connect to try linking again

If the problem still occurs then please ensure that you have the correct modem driver for your modem. For example, if you have a US Robotics Sportster modem, but you are using the Standard Windows modem driver: go to the US Robotics web site, download and install the latest driver for your modem. After installing the driver run the AT&T Dialer, press Setup, select Review or change just modem and phone number settings, click Next, ensure that the new modem driver is selected, click Next and then click Finish.

If you continue to experience problems, we suggest that you re-install your modem.

If you still experience problems after following these instructions, please do not hesitate to contact Kewill and advise of the same or new error.
