Error 19152 – Modem not responding
Please ensure that you modem is switched on and try linking
again.
If you continue to have problems, please follow these
instructions to try to resolve the problem:
1) Check that you have the correct modem driver installed
and that any unused modem drivers are removed (see below
for help determining which modems are installed).
2) Check that your modem is plugged into the same port
as specified in your Windows settings (see below
for help determining this):
If it is not, then please change the port settings
in Windows to match the port that your modem is connected to. If you
are running Windows 2000 or XP then please refer to the section below
entitled Windows 2000 and XP.
3) Try linking again
How to check which port your modem is
connected to
Please follow the instructions below to determine which
port your modem is connected to:
1) If you have an external modem then follow the cable
from the modem to the computer.
2) The modem is normally plugged into either COM1 or
COM2. The COM port number of 1 or 2 should be printed on your computer
case near to the point where your modem cable connects to the computer.
Note: some computers refer to the ports as A and B (A = COM1, B = COM2).
3) If you have an internal modem then this will normally
be attached to COM3.
4) If you cannot determine which port your modem is
connected to then please ask your network administrator, IT manager
or the company the computer was purchased from.
How to check modem and port settings
in Windows
Please follow the instructions below to determine which
modems are installed and which communications port Windows expects your
modem to be connected to:
Windows 95, 98 or ME
1) Open Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control
Panel)
2) Double-click the Modems icon
3) From the list, select the modem that will be used
by Konnexions. If any other modems are listed, which you know are not
connected to (or installed in) the computer, these can probably be removed
(we advise that you check with your network administrator or IT manager
before removing any modems).
4) Click the Properties button
5) The port will be displayed in a drop-down box -
check that it is the same as the port the modem is connected to.
6) If the port is incorrect then change it.
7) Click OK to save the changes then click Close to
close the Modems Properties window
Windows 2000 and XP
It is very unusual for Windows 2000 and XP to not detect
the correct port for the modem. It is more likely that the modem was
not correctly installed or was switched off when the computer started
- please check here for details of
this problem.
If you do need to check the port under Windows 2000
or XP then please follow the instructions below:
1) Open Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control
Panel)
2) Double-click the Phones and Modem options
icon
3) Select the Modems tab
4) From the list, select the modem that will be used
by Konnexions. If any other modems are listed, which you know are not
connected to (or installed in) the computer, these can probably be removed
(we advise that you check with your network administrator or IT manager
before removing any modems).
5) Click the Properties button
6) The port will be displayed at the top of the General
or Modem tab - check that it is the same as the port the modem is connected
to.
7) If the port is incorrect then you will need to
reinstall the modem.
8) Click Cancel to close the Modem Properties window
then click Cancel to close the Phone and Modem Options window
If you still experience problems after following these
